This task is about drawing pathways of motion.
a)
Two joggers run side-by-side, always staying exactly 1 m apart. The path of the first jogger has been drawn for you.
Draw the path of the second jogger. Scale 1 cm = 1 m.
 
 
b)
Barriers keep people at a distance of 1 m from a priceless statue. The statue has been drawn for you as a circle.
Draw the path of someone walking around the statue keeping as close to the barrier as they can. Scale 1 cm = 1 m.
 
 
c)
Simon is swimming around a 10 m by 4 m wharf always keeping at a distance of 1 m from the wharf. The wharf has been drawn for you as a rectangle.
Draw the path Simon takes as he swims around the wharf. Scale 1 cm = 1 m.

Description of task: 
This task requires students to demonstrate their understanding of locus by drawing in the paths that people follow in three given situations. An understanding of scale is also required to complete this task successfully.

NOTE: The corners for the locus drawn at c) should be curved because the locus at the corner is wider than 1 cm if it is drawn as a right angle. The swimmer also could not turn a corner at a right angle.
