Chemistry and society resources

Students are provided with nutritional information on three different types of milk. Students use this information to answer a number of questions.

Students are given a partially completed table which details materials which are used as either conductors or insulators of heat. Students complete the table by indicating whether the materials conduct or insulate heat or give an example of its use.

Use knowledge of insulation to answer questions about baked Alaska dessert, and how it compares to a chilly bin. Assessment focus: Interpreting diagrams, interpreting analogies, and using knowledge of insulation.

Students decide if a statement is correct and then give a reason for their answer. Assessment focus: Using science ideas to explain a view.
