  1. Animal dies and falls to bottom of lake/pond etc.
  2. The dead animal is buried (by silt/sediments).
  3. Sediments are turned to rock over millions of years.
  4. Either lake dries up or there is uplifting of rocks.
  5. Fossil becomes exposed because of erosion.
