Nau mai, haere mai,
Welcome to the ARB new resource trials.
We have a range of resource collections across different curriculum areas for you to trial before Thursday 9th March, 2017.

These resources are designed for students working AT the curriculum level listed.
Please select the collection/s that are the most appropriate for your class.

  Science Maths English
Level 1

This set of resources involve addition, subtraction, graphs, probability and position and orientation.

While the resources in this collection are designed for ESOL students, they will be appropriate for many others. They require students to use visual clues to make meaning and respond to simple sentences.
and/or
This set of resources is about choosing the best punctuation to end a sentence. Students choose from a full stop, an exclamation mark and a question mark in a series of sentences about ‘Getting to Know You’. They also complete their own short piece of writing, which they share with a peer.
Level 2

This set of resources is about observing and making inferences, and relates to Capability 1: Gathering and Interpreting Data. They focus on students' ability to notice patterns so they can identify moths and butterflies, make links between the number and size of seeds in fruit, and use cues to predict which bird and nest go together.

This set of resources involve properties of shapes, money, multiplication and patterns.

Level 3

The first two of these resources are about classification, and relate to Capability 1: Gathering and Interpreting Data. The third resource is about graphing, and relates to Capability 4: Interpreting representations. All three resources focus on students noticing patterns, e.g., what is similar and what is missing in the data given, and asks students to critique another’s interpretation.

These resources focus on punctuating direct speech. In the first resource, students punctuate a conversation by dragging opening and closing speech marks into place. In the second resource, they drag commas and full stops into place as well. Both resources also ask students to write their own piece of dialogue. Students then work with a partner to extend and check the dialogue.
Level 4

The third resource is about graphing, and relates to Capability 4: Interpreting representations. This set of resources involves interpreting graphs, identifying properties of quadrilaterals, using bearings, and divisibility of numbers and common factors.

Level 5

The first resource uses an ecological context to explore Capability 5:  Engage with Science.  Students read an article and develop a point of view as they progressively receive more information. The second and third resources are about noticing patterns, in the elements and wave behaviour respectively, and making inferences from the observed relationships.
