Diagnostic and formative information:
Student responses to question c) suggested that extracting information from a Venn diagram was difficult for many students. Some of the students who correctly identified features appeared to have relied on prior knowledge rather than on using the Venn diagram.
Comparing animals is a resource at Level 3 that would provide practice in using Venn diagrams.
