Permanent and Temporary Change resources

Task: Complete two sentences. Assessment focus: definitions of permanent and temporary change.

For this practical task students complete a table of observations for the following substances: vinegar, baking soda, and vinegar and baking soda mixed together.

Students are given the definitions for permanent and temporary change. The students then give two examples from the kitchen of each type of change.

Students identify which substances undergo a permanent change when they are mixed together.
