Task: Describe what happens to water on black plastic and explain why. Assessment focus: effect of colour on heat retention.

In Part 1 students identify visual techniques used within a static image and describe how they support the meaning of the poem. In Part 2, students create a text to communicate ideas visually. Annotated student work samples of Part 2 are provided.

Students colour in three fish according to given instructions. They then explain the advantage of this colour pattern for each fish.

For this practical task students make observations about the effect of coloured lights on different coloured objects. Students then draw some conclusions about their findings.

Task: Identify the colours on a taxi sitting under a red streetlight. Assessment focus: Coloured light can be produced by blocking some parts of the spectrum.
