Equipment:
Cube shaped box, e.g., square tissue box; rectangular prism shaped box, e.g., chocolate box; triangular prism, e.g., Toblerone box.
  • This task assesses students' ability to draw 3-dimensional shapes onto isometric paper from different viewpoints.
  • This assessment activity can be carried out with individual students or as a group/class activity.
  • Label the cube 'Shape A', the rectangular prism 'Shape B', and the triangular prism 'Shape C'.
  • Place each shape on an A4 sheet of paper and draw an arrow to indicate the view each shape is to be drawn from: Shape A – front right hand corner view, Shape B – front left hand corner view, Shape C – front right hand corner view.
