Geometric thinking resources

Students respond to and give directions about a simple path on a map involving right or left turns.

For this NEMP task students use a grid map of an island to locate positions and describe ways to move from one position to another.

Students locate positions on a treasure map using the major compass directions.

Students show their understanding of directions by identifying which child will be chosen in a circular game for which clockwise instructions are given.

Students demonstrate their knowledge of north, south, east, and west by giving the names of people shown on a plan of a forest park.

Students categorise 3-dimensional objects into cubes, cuboids (rectangular prisms), cylinders, cones, spheres, and pyramids.
