This task is about preparing and giving an 'instructive' speech.

Prepare a speech to present to the class. In your speech, explain the steps needed to develop a skill or complete a task.

Instruct means, "To teach, train, educate with knowledge, in a logical way". (Source: Random House Dictionary, 2001)


 

  • You may use presentation software or visual aids to help you present your speech.
  • Write the main ideas on a cue card or into the presentation software.
  • Do not write out your whole speech.
  • Your teacher will tell you how long your speech needs to be.
  • Select a topic from the list below.

  • How to make sushi.
  • How to dribble a basketball (or do any sports skill).
  • How to be a great friend.

  • Decide on the length of the speech before students begin planning.
  • Assessment scoring guides A, B, and C are all suitable for this task.
  • The choice of guide will depend on the type of assessment required.
