Teaching and learning:

At Level 2 students often use slide, flip or turn rather than translate, reflect or rotate.
Turn could be interpreted as "Turn over" i.e., flip.

We found that
  • it is better to use reflect rather than flip.
  • it is also better  to use rotate rather than turn.
  • Slide is preferable to translate, as students often do not understand the meaning of the latter.

The most common error is confusing turn and reflect in Question d).
This suggests that students should use reflect and rotate instead of flip and turn.
