For this NEMP task students fill out an application form for an after school job.

Students use cubes to construct part of a spatial pattern and answer questions on how to continue it.

Students create a vignette with a focus on writing that is brief, descriptive, and set in one point in time. They should not be concerned with plot. As the emphasis is on quality rather than quantity, students need to show a controlled and elegant skill in writing, and to use figurative language to 'show' rather than 'tell'.

This resource provides information on students’ ability to write a string of adjectives in the correct order.

Students use the ideas from a brainstorm to write six sentences about caring for pets.

Students place photos of a canoe trip in order, then use them to write a narrative with a beginning, middle and end.

Students demonstrate their understanding of a graph showing the relationship between the cost of different bottles of drink and the amount each bottle contains. They then explain which bottle of drink is the best value for money paid.

Assessment focus: ability to critically analyse and interpret a visual text, based on individual perception and the use of descriptors (visual/verbal/sound etc) to illustrate interpretation.

Students describe the shape of two distinctive dot plots showing different data.

Students estimate an addition problem, share their methods, discuss the front-end method and then do more problems using front-end.

Students use a flowchart to find solutions and generate rules from them.

Students interpret information from a flowchart to calculate the total costs of different sized groups staying in a motel for varying lengths. They also complete a linear algebraic equation to show the costs of one group's stay.

This grammar resource has a focus on verbs. Students identify verbs in sentences, and answer questions on the active or passive voice.

Students are assessed on their knowledge of parts of speech. They work through a short text and identify the nouns, verbs, adjectives, and adverbs.

This task assesses student understanding of how the form of a word affects the way it is used, i.e., whether a word is used as a noun or a verb.

Students select answers that demonstrate their understanding of alphabetical order.

Students read a letter written to the Board of Trustees, and make it more formal by writing the contractions as full words.

Students create simple and compound sentences to go with given photos. The focus is on combining sentences, using simple conjunctions. A peer sharing task completes the resource.

Students write headlines for brief newspaper items. This task assesses student ability to summarise text as a headline.

Students identify statements of fact from a range of statements.

This resource assesses students' ability to identify and correct common spelling errors, taken from the essential word lists of commonly misspelt words.

Students break given numbers into equal sized groups. Students must show their working.
