Task administration:
Equipment:
Student cards; netball/tennis court or similar sized asphalt or concrete area; chalk.

Teacher notes
  • Prior to this activity, mark with an arrow the direction North on the court.
  • This task is best carried out by small groups.
  • Cut out and give each student a card.
  • Tell them to follow through each instruction as listed on their card and to pace out and draw their pathway in chalk.
  • Students may start from any place on the court, however they need to mark their start and finish positions clearly.
  • Students can complete more than one card.
  • You may wish to use the Teacher Checklist(s) attached. You may find it easier to assess students' work by physically pacing out the answers as drawn in the scoring guide.
  • This task may be used as a peer assessment activity. One person in the pair will need a card, the other the corresponding answers. The person assessing can place a  or  beside each direction on the answer card. With a new card and answers each, the students can then swap roles.
