Students are provided with a map that has numbers on it representing various ash fall depths from a volcanic eruption. Students draw lines to link the similar numbers and answer questions about these. They also explain three major problems an ash fall could cause.

Task: Students draw a picture of a burning candle to show changes that occur. Assessment focus: representing the way particles behave when material undergoes temporary and permanent changes.
Assessment focus: ability to de-construct and interpret messages in advertising, so that students can understand meaning-making processes in the construction of imagery.
