This task is about finding all possible combinations.

Your teacher will give you a cardboard figure and a set of clothes. There are three T-shirts (one striped, one dotted, and one plain), one pair of shorts and one pair of jeans.

  • Cut out the cardboard figure and all the clothes.
  • Work out all the different sets of clothes that can be worn.
  • Each time you work out a new set of clothes, write it down in the box below. The first one has been done for you.

Task administration: 
This task is completed with pencil and paper, and other equipment.
 
Equipment:
Scissors, figure (photocopied onto cardboard) for each student; photocopied set of clothes for each student.
  • You may wish to cut out the figure and/or the clothing prior to carrying out this task.
  • Model the first set of clothing (striped T-shirt and shorts) on the cardboard figure.
  • Students may need reminding that they do not have to put the clothes on their figure in order to work out all the different sets of clothes.
