This task is about retelling a myth, legend or cultural story.

Retell a myth, legend or cultural story to a friend.

Your teacher will give you the myth, legend or cultural story. You will need to read it several times so that you know the story well.

Before retelling the myth, legend or cultural story  to your friend, you will need to know:

 
  • what the myth, legend or cultural story is called
  • who wrote it 
  • who the main characters are
  • where the myth or legend is set
  • what happens in the myth, legend or cultural story 
  • whether you enjoyed this myth, legend or cultural story and why.
 

You can use the checklist below to help prepare your speech.

Task administration: 
  • You will need to provide students with a choice of suitable myths and legends to read.
  • To undertake this task, students need to be able to plan independently.
  • A suggested length for the retelling is between 1 and 2 minutes.
  • Oral language assessment guides B and D are suitable for this task.
