This task requires making sets that show given fractions.
Display Cards
Task administration:
[Equipment: Each student requires three pieces of plasticine and one set of Display Cards.]
- This task assesses students' ability to find fractions of a whole number.
- This assessment task can be carried out with individual students, or a small group of students working independently.
- The Display Cards could be laminated so that they can be reused.
- Teacher to read out the following instructions.
a) | i) | Break the plasticine into lumps of equal sizes so you can show the fraction ^{1}/_{10}. |
ii) | Place the correct number of lumps on the display card to show ^{1}/_{10} and the remainder. | |
iii) | Write the remainder as a fraction. | |
